From the Patient Education menu option, you can link directly to patient medication information, MEDcounselor Sheets.
You can also link directly from a monograph to MEDcounselor Sheets.
The MEDcounselor information is available in multiple languages. English and Spanish translations are the default languages within the United States. Other language translations are available based on your subscription.
To view MEDcounselor sheets in some of the languages (such as Bengali), special fonts and language options need to be installed on your computers to allow for appropriate viewing of special characters and right-to-left presentation.
Please refer to the ‘Additional Requirements to view MEDcounselor Languages content’ section for browser and font setup requirements.

You can print and customize single or multiple MEDcounselor Sheets. After each search for a MEDcounselor sheet, each MEDcounselor sheet automatically adds to Print List in the upper right.
The Handout Documentation page is printed at the beginning of a customized MEDcounselor Sheet printout as a unique page(s) when the Handout Documentation select box is checked. This sheet incorporates all the custom information that has been added to the custom information box.
All MEDcounselor sheets are arranged in the same manner and answer the same questions.
What is this medicine?
What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine
What should I watch for while using this medicine?
What may interact with this medicine?
How should I use this medicine?
What side effects may I notice from receiving this medicine?

All MEDcounselor sheets meet national standards with regard to targeted reading levels for CMI (consumer medication information). Each individual whole document is rendered at the 6-8th grade national desirable level; whenever possible without losing intent, we attempt to reach 4-6th grade reading levels.
From the Clinical Pharmacology home page, click the Patient Education menu then select MEDcounselor Sheets.
From the text box on the left, enter a drug name (e.g., Onsolis).
Click Go.
A list of drug links displays, along with a Select Language drop-down box.

From the results list, select a language from the Select Language drop-down box, if desired then select the applicable drug product.

For drug products that include
REMS or Medication Guides, a

Alert icon displays in the MedCounselor title
bar, Click on the icon to access
REMS Information
or MedGuide Information.
Click on the
icon to display the REMS Information popup.

Click a product link from the list (e.g., ‘Onsolis’). A REMS Summary popup window opens and displays a list of all applicable REMS components for that product. REMS components can include:
Medication Guide
Communication Plan
ETASU (Elements To Assure Safe Use)
Implementation Plan

Click on a REMS Summary component link (if available) to view a PDF for the REMS component.
To
Print: click the Printer icon
.
To Close: click the Close ('X') in the upper right to close the REMS Summary window and return to the MedCounselor page.
Click on the
icon to display the Medication Guides Information
popup.

Click on a MedGuide link to view and/or print a PDF for the Medication Guide.
To Close: click the Close ('X') in the upper right to close the Medication Guide Information window and return to the MedCounselor page.
When the MEDcounselor sheet displays on your screen in the requested language, select Add to Print List.

Your selected MEDcounselor Sheet and the selected language displays in the Print List above.

To remove a drug from the Print List, click the red 'X' to the left of the drug. |
Continue to add MEDcounselor Sheets until you have finished adding all you want to view and/or print.
Use your scroll bar on the right of the Print List box to view.
You can also hide the Search and Print List sections by clicking the Hide Search Box button on the right.
You can print and customize single or multiple MEDcounselor Sheets for multiple drugs and multiple languages.

Customized Printing adds your selections to the printout of the MEDcounselor Sheet.

Follow the steps below to set up your computer:

On your computer, select Start > Control Panel > Date, Time, Language and Regional Options > Regional and Languages Options > Languages Tab.
On the Languages Tab, check both check boxes as:
Install files for complex script and right to left languages.
Install files for East Asian languages.
Open your IE browser. From the browser menu, select Tools > Internet Options >Select General Tab > click on the Fonts button.
On the Fonts pop-up window:
Select Language Script (such as Bengali)
Select Unicode in WebPage Font box (if available)
When complete, click on OK.
The system will prompt for a Windows CD, which contains i386 fonts language folder, OR, you can also search for an i386 folder (if it is available) in the Windows Operating System C drive.
After installing the i386 fonts language folder, you should be able to view the translated pages.
Usually Firefox displays all fonts. However, if a required font is not available, you can follow the steps below to make changes in your default font display settings in Linux:
Open Firefox, then select Edit > Preferences > Firefox Preferences popup > Content > Fonts & Colors> then click on the Advanced button.
On the Advanced pop-up window, look in the Fonts for: dropdown box to see if the language font you need is available there. If not, you will need to download and install the required font.
If you are unable to see any language, search for the required language font via online, as most of the fonts are available for free.
Download the required font to your Mac desktop.
Double click on the font. A page displays showing the Install Font button. Click Install.
Once installed, the new font will appear in the font folder.
To determine if the font installed appropriately, do one of the following:
Refresh the page again, OR
View within the Fonts Folder as Macintosh HD > Library > Fonts.

Note for Mac Users: In order to access the Bengali language, you must select one of several fonts, some that may require a paid font subscription. Bengali shows symbols differently depending on the font, and it is up to the user’s preference as to which font they want to utilize in Safari (such as Vrinda or Rupali). |
