A phonetic search is also available if your initial search does not provide the desired results.
The Search on the Control Panel for all monograph and drug product information in Clinical Pharmacology. The results are grouped by monograph and product results.
You can use the SEARCH functionality to find monographs, products, global drug names, adverse reactions, and drug class overviews information, as well as searching terms used for indications, contraindication/precautions, adverse reactions and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
You can do a full or partial search. We suggest you use the "partial 4-letter" search. Using 4 letters or more in the search, often finds more useful results and a better response time from Clinical Pharmacology. You can, however, do a 3-letter search. (NOTE: Using a 3-letter search only searches the first three letters of a drug, drug product, and so on.)
For best results, we suggest entering either the entire word or at least 4 (four) or more letters into the site SEARCH box. Clinical Pharmacology then searches anywhere within the drug names, monograph names, drug class overview names, or other terms.
Example: If you type "amine" the results will include monographs, drugs products, drug class overview names or other terms that include these four letters.
From the main SEARCH box, enter either the entire word or a partial string of 4 or more letters.
If a generic name is used, no products may appear if generics are not available, as the results are based on the NAME of the product.

If you select a monograph -OR- if you select either a US Drug Product or Global Drug Name that has an associated US monograph, you will be taken to a landing/navigation page that allows you to:
View any section of the related monograph
Begin a report
View MEDcounselor sheets
View REMS or Medication Guide alerts (if applicable), or
Select products for more detailed information.

If you select a US Product search result that does not have an associated US monograph, a drug product information window opens and displays detailed drug product information.

If you select a Global Drug Name search result that does not have an associated US monograph, a Global Drug Name window opens and displays the following information:
Product name and country of origin
Manufacturer
Active ingredient(s) (from the Global Drug Name Directory), along with the US ingredient name (listed in parenthesis)
Therapeutic Classifications

If an Indication, Contraindication, or Adverse Reaction result is selected, a search for all US monographs associated with the specific term is performed, similar to a Find By Indication, Contraindication/Precaution, or Adverse Reaction searches from the Find/List menu.
Overview links take you directly to the specified Drug Class Overview.
Manufacturer links allow you to either view a list of all the products associated with that manufacturer or view the manufacturer contact information.
